JSTOR was initiated in 1995 at seven different library sites, and originally encompassed ten economics and history journals. Contains editions on economy, business, sociology, political science, statistics, mathematics, health care, physics, philosophy, antique researches, linguistics, literature, etc.

JSTOR content is provided by more than 900 publishers. The database contains more than 1,900 journal titles, in more than 50 disciplines. The digital library has the academic magazines, books and the main sources. It provides full text search of nearly 2 000 magazines, it is more than at 8 000 establishments.

More than in 160 countries there is an access to JSTOR: the majority of access on a subscription, but some older public maintenance of the domain in a free access to any.
